About Our Troop
The Troop meets every Monday night at St. Georges United Methodist Church located near the intersection of Route 123 and Braddock Road in Fairfax, Virginia. Meetings begin at 7:30 p.m. and usually last one hour.
Troop 1865 currently has a membership of 60 Scouts and Venture Crew.
The Troop has a very active outdoor program, and our Scouts employ the Patrol Method while on our rain-or-shine monthly outdoor events. This team-building method allows more of our Scouts to practice leadership and organizational skills.
New Scouts. Our new Scouts follow a structured advancement path for the ranks of Scout through First Class. This helps our younger Scouts develop the necessary self-reliance and leadership skills inherent in the Scouting program. It also helps our younger Scouts recognize the value of participating in meetings and outings as an “investment” in themselves.
Troop 1865 regularly earns the Quality Unit Award. This award is presented to Troops that meet or exceed standards prescribed the Boy Scouts of America criteria for excellence.
Our Troop is well outfitted for adventure. We have our own canoes and trailer, climbing equipment, tarps, tents, tables, lanterns, stoves, Dutch ovens, patrol cooking gear, Troop trailer, etc.
